This Week the Banyan's Roots Stuck

I have been watching this beautiful full collection of roots on this Bamyan Tree since I moved here 2 years ago. It was so heavy and yet would sway gently in the lightest breeze, millimeters from the dirt it was heading toward. Ithe root bundle was so mesmerizing to me, that I used to bring my yoga mat out to Kapiolani Park and  practice yoga right in front of it, as it swayed like an otherworldly pocket watch, luring me into a trance.
The roots reminded me some of myself, comfortable and content in the daily sway of life I set up for myself every new place I go, but in no hurry to actually take permanent root. My wish was to get to see it grab on to the dirt while I was still here in this neighborhood. Here in Hawaii, I was content to wait, and outlast the root's transiency.
Well, it only took two years, and about two weeks of very heavy rains, for the dirt below the tree to finally pull in that collection of nerves and make a permanent connection.
I am so happy I got to witness this small part of the tree's progress, and yet, now, some of the allure is gone. That bundle of roots is no longer living on the edge of what might happen next.  But I am.
